Mumbai Attacks

What do you want?
And
How do you achieve it by these attacks?

Men like these are not interested in dialogue ruchita. We'll have to look for those who will.

I have this question-
http://wimpistan.blogspot.com/2008/11/why-do-honest-cops-die-early.html

I agree. They are beyond dialogue and beyond reasoning.
It's just that when you get sick and tired of all the talk that happens after every attack/blast, after we are done with blaming the politicians, after we scrutinize the terror emaails, after we say our intelligence agencies are not doing their job, after we talk of war with Pak, after we complain of lack of sophisticated weapons, after we talk of Mumbai spirit, after we see a few resignations, after we set up a investigation to probe the attack, after we seize more arms, more RDX ...one question remains unanswered ,,,Why ?

I completely agree with you..

We all are sick and tired of watching what has been happening for years now...
And on top of it, to watch those good for nothing politicians display their stupidity in public is even more frustrating....
I just pray and hope that soon we get a solution for this and eliminate all of this ( the politicians..terrorists ) from this country !

Let me take a stab at this...
Why? Because they are oppressed. They have seen the way the world is willing to treat them at the mere mention of the word terror. They aren't all at fault, but they are all blamed. They would have tried dialogue, but nobody will listen.

Look at it now. Everyone lashes out at our neighbor blaming them for the attack. In reality, they have no control over what happened. They are like the parent who cultivated a monster, and now has no control over it. Yet, they cant admit, for obvious reasons. It gives the monster the realization that it is in control. That cant be allowed. And still, nobody will listen.

We talk about the military option, when in fact, that's exactly what should not be done. You think that going in and blasting away rocky style will solve this? No. You'll create the hydra from Hercules. You remove one head, and two more replace it. There is no solution in war, that's just a problem that masks all other problems.

So, again, Why? Because we made them.

Who is oppressed? The neighbour? Or its nationals? ANd how are we responsible for it?
And if the way the world is willing to treat them is not acceptable ... then such acts are only going to aggravate it.

By the way if you did not mean the neighbour when you said 'they' then we are in bigger problem.
And common sense tells us that local Indians have a role to play.

@zoxcleb:
When a state claims to live up to certain principles, it should back it up with authority over its people, monsters or not. Otherwise it is sheer swagger and talk.

And btw,how did "we make them" that way? Why the rush to blame ourselves always ?

@quest
the first "they" was not the neighbor. our responsibility? look at the history books, ones that havent already been yellowed. oppress some people, to gain power, and eventually the people oppressed will rebel.
yes, we are in a much bigger mess than people are willing to accept.

@satish
i'm not saying the state is not to blame completely. i'm saying its so crippled, that annihilating it will serve no purpose, and cause other states to crumble into such turmoil that we see in the neighbor.
and "we" was not india in particular, it was the world. and yes, we are to blame, oppression came before the repercussions.

No one is saying WE are NOT to be blamed. We are at fault..for this -

1. We did not EFFECTIVELY address Pak and problems it created in the last 61 yrs - thats external affairs

2. We played dirty politics to use Muslims in India as a votebank

Put 1 and 2 together and we made a blunder.

That's my partial shield for comments from Zoxcleb.

But, it still does not justify acts like these.
If today the Muslims in India feel that they have been oppressed and used as vote banks ...they should cast their votes against people who use them.

@quest
Nothing will ever justify these acts. If we ever get to a point that we can justify such acts, and brush them away, then the all is lost, my friend.
As for your alternative, does something like that exist? Politicians with no vote banks?

"Why?" is like a vicious circle - it is like viewing Vishnu's Vishwaroopa and not being able to withstand it.

We all know that cigarette smoking is injurious to health. Government spends millions to advertise this message and create awareness. But all that they ever needed to do was close down these factories. No one wants to pull the plug or bell the cat, all they do is beat around the bush.

Hey R, long time. Was away. How is life? In bangalore?

As to this post, history suggests that human civilizations will continue to fight for racial, religious and tribal supremacy. Its all about power. Terrorists are just pawns in this game.

A philosophical read - A hundred years of solitude. A political read on this - Samuel Huntington's Clash of Civilizations. Very good insight.

@ finding_thyself, I agree about the major role politics has to play.
We bowed down against the terrorists in Kandhar ...to save the throne. And we've done that way too many times now.
